Looking for a quick, healthy, and hands-on recipe to try with your little chefs? These Cheesy Carrot & Chickpea Balls are perfect! They’re soft, tasty, and packed with hidden veggies – ideal for after-school snacks, lunchboxes, or even party food. Best of all, children can help with every step.

What You’ll Need
2 medium carrots, boiled and mashed
1 tin of chickpeas (400g), drained and mashed
100g grated cheese (cheddar works great)
2–3 tablespoons breadcrumbs (plus a little extra for rolling)
1 teaspoon mild seasoning (paprika or mixed herbs – optional)
A drizzle of olive oil for baking
Step-by-Step Method
Mash it up – In a big bowl, mash the carrots and chickpeas together until smooth.
Mix the magic – Add in the grated cheese, breadcrumbs, and seasoning. Stir well until everything sticks together.
Shape the balls – With clean hands, roll small bite-sized balls. Kids love helping with this part!
Coat & crunch – Roll each ball in a little extra breadcrumb for a crispy coating.
Bake – Place on a tray lined with baking paper, drizzle with olive oil, and bake at 180°C (fan) for 15–20 minutes until golden. Or in the air fryer 180°C for 13 minutes.
